Typhoon Ursula Relief Operations
On December 24, 2019, on Christmas Eve, families were driven out of their homes due to the ravaging Typhoon Ursula wreaking havoc throughout the Visayas. For these people, it was a cruel fate to greet the new year. It is the drive of the Bank to be that leading partner that these people can lean on. On January 28-30, through the voluntary effort of many head office staff that packed more than a thousand relief goods, we set out on the areas of Kalibo and Caticlan in Aklan, Roxas City and Pontevedra in Capiz, and Estancia, Iloilo to give out the goods to the victims of the typhoon, clients and staff alike. They were grateful for the help extended. This act helped bolster the relationship of the bank to its clients and staying true to the promise of being the channel and vessel of Christ’s love.

“Mangrove Tree Planting Activity”
December 21, 2019. The Head Office team together with Jaro and Mandurriao branches joined forces for our mangrove Tree Planting and Clean-Up Drive as part of our Corporate Social Responsibility. The venue for this activity is in “Katunggan Eco-Park” in Brg. Nabitansan, Leganes, managed by Mr. Wilson Batislaon. Before the planting proper, we had a 20 minutes orientation on how to properly plant the mangroves, the different species and the impact they have in our eco-system. We started planting the baby mangroves at 1:00 in the afternoon and lasted until 3:00pm. With an initial 250 seeds planted, our CSR was a success with our effort duly recognized by the LGU and the caretakers of the Eco-Park. We look forward to doing more CSR’s.
OK BANK’s 2019 CHRISTMAS PARTY
On December 14, 2019, OK Bank celebrated its Annual Christmas Party. For the first time, the Panay area branches and BLU’s joined together with Head office personnel to celebrate the event at the Royal Sunset Beach Resort (formerly known as Anhawan Beach Resort). The celebration was filled with fun and surprises as everyone participated in the various games and contest. Of course, food and drinks were in abundance.
Award were also given to banking units and head office personnel for their loyalty, hard work and versatility. This celebration is a manifestation of a unified and hardworking OK Bank that seeks to aid the country’s micro-entrepreneurs.
Financial Literacy Training
The Financial Literacy Training Program is designed and created by the Corporate Planning Department with the goal of educating the bank’s clients in deposit awareness, importance of savings and investment opportunities. The branches and BLUs that are to be the host locations are meticulously selected based on their deposit generating performance. These branches and BLUs are expected to promote deposits and investments to clients and other business personalities.
The Financial Literacy Training Program as part of the Corporate Social Responsibility activities of OK Bank is line with its thrust to give back to its clients as well as strengthening its relationship with them. It is a critical project that aims in helping local communities be financially educated on many monetary decisions they make in their business and personal lives. The enhancement of these traits can ultimately impact the growth of any economy.
As of June 2019, the Corporate Planning Department (CPD) has invited, conducted and held the Financial Literacy Training to various OKBI offices namely: Head Office, Antique Branch, Mandurriao Branch, Jaro Branch, Sara Branch, Estancia Branch with the inclusion of other BLUs. The training project has proven to be effective and the CPD team is working to innovate and improve the program, in terms of coverage and providing more analytical presentation.
Mid-Year Strategic Plans Assessment and Budget Review
On July 11-12, 2019 OK Bank embarked on a 2-day intensive peer-to-peer session to evaluate the performance of the bank during the first half of 2019 and to plan out for the remaining months of the year. Held at Gateway Hotel, Pavia, Iloilo, this corporate activity was well attended by the Board of Directors, Branch Managers, and Department Heads.
The main objective of the event is collaboration of strategic action plans, of various operating units making reference to the lessons of the past, evaluating strength and weaknesses of the present, and prospecting for future based on known opportunities and threats, all for the ultimate goal of producing income that (1) results from extending allied services in helping Filipino entrepreneurs and poor communities and, (2) sustains its commitment to its stakeholders and employees.
BAI FUN RUN 2019
The greater experience of a fun run comes from running together towards a common goal that is reaching the finish line. By running together we develop a sense of motivation, discipline, and camaraderie. By participating in this event we not only exercise our physical selves but, also help in saving the lives of cancer patients..
On January 22, 2019 OK Bank joins the 2019 Bankers Association of Iloilo (BAI) Fun Run. The event is aimed at promoting a healthier lifestyle, fellowship among bankers and to raise funds for the Cancer Kids Iloilo Foundation, Inc..
Financial Literacy Training Program
On December 19, 2018, OK Bank launched the second Financial Literacy Training Program for its Microfinance clients. The program is aimed to not only help clients in bettering their savings-approach towards their business but, to also enrich them with knowledge of better fund management and investment decisions. The clients were welcomed and addressed by the President and CEO of OK Bank, Atty. Jerry T. Opinion. The training lecturer was one of OK Bank’s Independent Director Ms. Liberty B. Valderrama, who has a mixed working background from insurance and banking industries. The training program was met with positive reviews and throughout the training program several clients asked a variety of questions ranging from better savings deposits to habitual daily financial budgeting.
The program was a success; it ended with the awarding of certificates and picture taking of clients who attended. The bank sincerely thanked all the clients that freed up their time from their respective businesses to attend this training program and many of them have expressed their gratitude for the bank’s effort to maintain in a very good relationship with the clients.
OK Bank Christmas Party 2018 (80’s Retro Party)
On December 15, 2018, OK Bank celebrated its annual Christmas party which was held at Iloilo Gateway Hotel in Pavia, Iloilo. The Christmas party’s theme is the decade where many discoveries were made, technology advancement, neon colours, mullets, moustaches, teen angst, groovy hair and funky music, that decade was the ever iconic 1980’s. Staff and Managers alike dressed their best 80’s attire and flaunted it for a chance to win the title as Best 80’s Attire for Male and Female individuals respectively. The event was graced by the presence of OK Bank’s Board of Directors namely Director Mr. Angel L. De Leon, Jr, Director Mr. Demy P. Sonza, Chairman Mr. Franklin L. Lopez and President and CEO, Atty. Jerry T. Opinion. Dance moves clashed and funky music played as four teams compete to be the winner in a dance presentation with the Team 4th Floor (Accounting and Finance) winning the prize. In keeping true to the spirit of gift giving, everyone exchanged their gifts in accordance to the number they got and raffle prizes were given away. Nearing the end of the program, Chairman Mr. Lopez gave his inspiring speech of the events that has transpired since the beginning of the bank and that we should always keep the faith and work towards the progress of not only the bank but, towards the success of all clients as well. He also encouraged the generous act of donating surplus items and blood donations. The program ended with a funky dance floor with everyone enjoying the day.
Strategic Planning 2018
On November 14 to 15, 2018, Ok Bank Operations Group and Management Support Group finally stood firm in defending their Key Action Plans and budgets for this coming 2019. With the help of Atty. Jerry T. Opinion and the Board of Directors, Mr. Wilfredo A. Mana–ay, Mr. Douglas E. Aurelio and Ms. Liberty Valderrama, they were able to identify the areas that needs to be improved in order to achieve their targets.
During the event, we witnessed the spirit of cooperation and teamwork of all so that all strategies will be aligned with the bank’s overall vision for profit and growth. With hard work, there’s no doubt that all identified goals and actions will be achieved.

OK Bank Conducts Strategic Planning 2019
The management of OK Bank initiated its Strategic Planning 2019 for Operations Group in two separate occasions to mark its commitment to good governance that translates to valuable financial rewards to its clients.
On September 08, 2018, the strategic planning workshop was attended by operations staff in Panay and the other, on September 22, 2018 in Cebu, to accommodate the units from Bohol, Cebu and Leyte.
The strategic planning training was an opportunity for participants to gain additional knowledge, help them think about how their activities and responsibilities fit into a larger picture. During the workshops, they were encouraged to participate in the exchange of ideas. While opinions diverged at times, different views on particular issues are valuable.
Throughout the planning process, a picture of the Bank’s present and future was explored and participants were encouraged to think creatively and positively, so that the Bank can proactively move forward. It is vital to keep in mind that the goals established during this process will only be realized through the judicious use of Bank resources including financial resources. Additionally, achieving these goals will require commitment, focus and leadership.
OK Bank's 13th Branch is now open in Guimaras

Estancia Branch Opening
"On March 14, 2018, We celebrate the blessing and opening of OK Bank Estancia Branch. Together with the bank president, Atty. Jerry T. Opinion, board of directors, and municipal mayor, Mr. Rene S. Cordero, officially cut the ribbon to signify the opening of the bank to the general public. Estancia is a municipality in northern iloilo dubbed as the "Alaska of the Philippines" due to its rich marine resource that it shares together with the municipality of Carles. OK Bank, a microfinance rural bank, caters to a lower-margin market that other larger banking institutions could not.
As what Mayor Cordero mentioned "Estancia is a small municipality with the major source of income of the local population is through entrepreneurship and business. OK Bank is another proof that more investors are flocking our quiet town and I am more than happy to welcome OK Bank here in our municipal."
Sara Branch Opening and Blessing
Opened on September 18, 2017. OK Bank - Sara branch is the first attempt of the bank to expand towards northern Iloilo. With a gradually developing community up north, the bank would be able to take advantage in helping rural communities.
Inline with the bank's vision to be the competitive and stable microfinance bank in the country, serving as a lead partner of aspiring Filipino entrepreneurs, the branch would be able to cater to micro clients by providing small loans that they could easily accommodate.
